Beloved Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at Age 60.

American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, according to news outlets.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several hit series, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.

Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
