Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
