Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
