Performer Denies Anti-Vaxxer Position Following Voicing Controversial Pandemic Feature
The "Taken" star has given his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that questions the legitimacy of vaccinations and lauds former health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Disputed Origins
Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is inspired by a bestselling book co-authored by Judy Mikovits, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for claims that the illness was caused by a faulty batch of the influenza shot.
The publication's writing partner, a producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone media personality Alex Jones. Heckenlively took to social media praising Neeson's role in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Rebuttal
Representatives for Neeson have released a comment strongly denying claims that he supports anti-vaccine sentiments.
"Everyone can recognize that corruption can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that must not be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the statement explains. "Neeson never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His extensive work with the global charity underscores his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement continued that the actor did not shape the film's editorial content and that inquiries about its assertions are best addressed to the creators.
Central Themes Within the Feature
According to the documentary, the voiceover provided by Neeson features several controversial points:
- It suggests that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It argues that "science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- RFK Jr is interviewed claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- It further attacks Covid lockdowns, arguing they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it cites a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Controversy and Ongoing Debates
It further cites a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was later the focus of a formal apology by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
Recently, the political figure instructed the national health agency to alter its official position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism. This assertion is echoed in the film, despite a recent study from the World Health Organisation stating no such link has been found.
A Previous Record of Advocacy
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has previously shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a Unicef global ambassador.
Two years ago, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible triumph," noting that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's script saying, "This marks not the conclusion of our narrative. It is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
