The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
