The Gunners Face Wolves in Key English Top Division Fixture

The stage is set for a compelling Premier League contest as table-toppers Arsenal welcome rock-bottom Wolves to the Emirates Stadium.

Confirmed Sides

Arsenal have opted for three changes from the team that suffered a 2-1 loss at Villa Park in their previous outing. The French defender, Viktor Gyökeres and Gabriel Martinelli all come into the lineup. The captain and the Spanish midfielder drop to the substitutes' bench, while Riccardo Calafiori is not involved. Saliba is back after sitting out a run of games due to injury.

The visitors also make three adjustments to their lineup after being heavily defeated 4-1 at Molineux by Manchester United on Monday evening. The experienced full-back, João Gomes and the South Korean forward come in. Hoever and Jhon Arias drop to the substitutes, while Jean‐Ricner Bellegarde is not in the squad altogether.

Preamble

Good evening! Because, look at this …

The table tells a striking story. Arsenal sit comfortably at the top of the table, while Wolves anchor the league.

… yet while this will be the 42nd occasion the Premier League leaders have faced the team propping up the entire table – winning 30 out of 41, with seven tied games – who are responsible for two of the four all-time upsets? Why, Wolves, of course! Therefore, although Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be anticipating another three points, the Wolves boss must know that underdogs sometimes succeed, and anything is possible. The start is at 8 o'clock in the evening GMT. The action is imminent!

(The remaining bottom-beats-top victories in the Premier League era are Oldham Athletic's 1-0 win over United in March 1993, and Spurs – admittedly, a surprising one - beating Liverpool in November 2008.)
